Pluto TV Now Available to Watch Via Web Browsers in the UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland

ViacomCBS-owned ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV is now viewable via web browsers.

Pluto TV, the free ad-supported streaming television service from ViacomCBS, is now enabling viewers in the UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to watch live channels and on-demand content directly through the Pluto TV website via their preferred web browser on all Internet-enabled devices.

All major browser applications, from Safari to Chrome and Firefox are compatible with Pluto TV’s programming. Pluto TV is subscription free and does not require a login to access its growing library of over 100 channels. To watch Pluto TV via web browser, users simply need to access and press play.

There are currently over 100 channels available in the UK, while its German-speaking markets have 78 live channels. Both markets also have access to a wide range of on demand content.

The streamer's UK lineup currently includes dedicated channels for Degrassi, Inspector Gadget and Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen channel and on demand highlights Ghost Adventures, Homes Under The Hammer, Fifth Gear, Derek Acorah’s Ghost Towns, plus season one of comedy-drama Ackley Bridge.

The line-up in Germany, Austria and Switzerland boasts three dedicated Nickelodeon channels: Nick Pluto TV, Nick Jr. Pluto TV and NickRewind.

“Pluto TV has grown consistently since it launched outside of the US two years ago. In Europe and the UK, we’ve increased both our user base and our channel offering on a monthly basis,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo, President Studios and Streaming, ViacomCBS Networks International. “Now, with browser access, anyone who wants to enjoy Pluto TV’s premium channels can do so even more easily than before. This is an important feature, as we aim to continue to grow our offering in Europe, the UK and beyond.”

In addition to its new browser accessibility, Pluto TV is available for its UK viewers via third-party connected devices Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Virgin Media, NowTV and as a mobile app in the App Store and Google Play Store.

Pluto TV is becoming increasingly central to ViacomCBS’s streaming strategy. As of the end of Q2, CEO Bob Bakish said that Pluto Pluto “is really cranking” with the free-to-view AVOD registering 33 million monthly active users – with 26.5 million of those coming from the US.

Bakish said that Pluto will “move in parallel” with the company’s upcoming ‘super service’ which will launch next year.

In addition to Europe, Pluto TV is also available in the USA and Latin America, and is expected to launch in Brazil and Spain by the end of the year and France and Italy in 2021.
